Social space

Reading is something we do by ourselves. That’s a huge strength but it can also make readers feel isolated – when you finish that great book late at night, you want to wake everyone up to tell them about it.  When you get so frustrated with a book you could shout out loud, you want to know you are not the only one, is there another person out there that feels as you do?

Libraries are great centres of sharing – after all the books are shared and passed on from one reader to another. They are also home to book groups, author talks and other programmed social activities.  But many visitors or students can’t give or don’t want that level of commitment. How can we take the sharing up a notch while not asking people to commit two hours of their time?

Here’s a simple example to try.
